Goldfield was a mining town outside of Apache Junction, Arizona. It was established in 1893 when a vein of gold was discovered, but by 1898 the vein had run out and the miners abandoned the town. Hobbiton Fan Art

The reference I used for this piece was a photo of one of the hobbit houses in New Zealand that were created for the set of Lord of the Rings, and then I made a few changes. The landscape in the photo looked kind of overgrown, so I removed a lot of the shrubbery and added some hydrangeas around the fence to add a bit of color. I used pen and ink and Prismacolor pencils.
